Cut describes how a diamond’s proportions and finish work with light. It is different from shape, such as round, oval or pear.
Look beyond shape
Compare the cut information, proportions, polish and symmetry in the laboratory report. Where available, use photographs and video to see how the individual stone handles light.
Compare like with like
Not every shape receives the same type of cut assessment. Do not assume that a cut label for a round brilliant applies in exactly the same way to an oval or emerald cut.
